For your information *
1 in 5 vehicles are seriously low on engine oil
The RAC attended 9,000 calls last year due to lack of oil
Newer cars are affected as much as older ones
No warranty will cover repairs caused by lack of oil
Checking your engine oil is a simple job
Don't wait for your oil level light to come on
With your car parked
on level ground,
warm your engine up
to operating
temperature, then
stop the engine
long enough for the
oil level to settle
for a few minutes
Remove dipstick again
and read oil level-
ideally the level should
be between the minimum
and maximum markers
If the oil level is
close to or below the
minimum marker then
your oil needs topping
up

Top ups must be
with the correct Grade
of engine oil for your
vehicle

Advice

If you find you need to top up your engine oil every 1,000 miles, we strongly advise you visit a Good Garage Scheme member to prevent having to do this on such a regular basis.

Oil also needs to be changed regularly. When oil becomes too old and dirty, you're no longer getting the full benefit of the additives it contains. The oil becomes less effective at cooling and lubricating your engine. What's worse, the increased friction and chemical build-up in used oil can deteriorate your engine's moving parts.
