Fuel System

Your engine runs on a delicate balance of fuel and air.
Dirt, sand and other impurities can clog your fuel filter and starve your fuel injectors.

Starved or clogged fuel injectors can impede engine performance and reduce fuel efficiency.
Warning signs of a clogged fuel injector or fuel filter include:

• Stalling while driving.
• Misfiring or hesitation during acceleration.
• Difficulty starting or long cranking periods.

Overheating

If you find your temperature gauge creeping into the red, turn on your heater. Sound crazy? It can work.

Your heater pulls heat from the liquid that cools your engine. If you turn on the heater and set the fan to full, your heater will pull more heat from this liquid, helping it to cool the engine.

Also, be sure to turn off the A/C at the first signs of overheating. Doing so will take a load off your engine.

The best thing you can do, however, when your engine overheats is to pull over as safely and quickly as possible and wait for your car to cool down. Never attempt to remove the radiator cap until the engine has cooled, the coolant is boiling, and under pressure.

How to jump start

Before you start, make sure to wear proper eye protection. Inspect both the dead battery and the battery you're going to jump from. If either looks damaged, do not attempt the jump start procedure. Also be sure the vent caps are secure.

    To begin:
1. Make certain the vehicles are not touching and both ignition switches are turned to OFF.
2. Connect positive booster cable to positive terminal of the dead battery.
3. Connect the other end of the positive cable to the positive terminal of the live battery.
4. Connect negative cable to negative terminal of the live battery.
5. Make final connection of negative cable to engine block (away from the battery) of the     car with the dead battery. (This is done because the dead battery could be emitting     flammable gas. This final connection is away from the battery so if there are any sparks,     they won't cause an explosion).
6. Start vehicle and remove cables in reverse order.
If you have any specific questions about how to jump start, check your owner's manual.
